Creation

This costume was an early creation of designer Jess Fox. With techniques she learned in her secondary school classes, Fox was able to put a spin on a classic Disney idol. “Make it pink!” Fox designed this gown and made it completely from scratch; there are 3 pieces to it, an underskirt, an overskirt, and a corset.

The skirts are made using a full circle skirt equation, and the corset was drafted using a vintage McCalls sewing pattern. All adornments such as embroidery, beading, ruching, and lace application were done by hand. Fox used solid and patterned fabrics to create visual contrast.
