Guild Outerwear

Inspiration

This mini-collection was inspired by World of Warcraft, and the comradery that comes with playing in a guild, a team, of like-minded people who love fantasy games. It pulls themes and colors directly from the game. Specific design inspiration comes from the Legion Artifact weapons, and character designs such as Illidan and Sylvanas. The color-blocking within the garments is a staple to designer Jess Fox’s style, but also reminiscent of the fell energy in the World of Warcraft series.

Design Development

The collection had numerous garments designed, but only three made it to the final lineup, each including a level of modularity and complexity to the eye. All proposed garments were to be made of heavy wool coat fabrics and a majority of the designs focused on dark wintery colors with a vibrant pop of neon as an accent.

After the final design was selected, a sample was made out of 100% cotton muslin, and 100% polyester lining. It was critiqued by industry professionals, and changes were made by Jess Fox.

Final Design

The final design included numerous levels of modularity; the extra large sleeves are removable and held on by magnets. The hood is removable and held on by magnetic snaps, the vest layer unzips at the sideseam, and the “skirt” piece is removable and held on by magnetic snaps. The base coat is in a cropped and fitted style with a high neck and off-center zipper closure, it features a World of Warcraft style “Tabbard” piece that hangs down the center front of the wearer’s legs. This garment features 2 large welt pockets within the “skirt” piece. It is fully lined with 100% polyester lining, while the shell is made of two colors of faux wool coating.
